We are putting a lot of thought into how to safely open the Lodge for guests. We are going to try a ‘soft’ opening midway through May with a mini quilting group – all five of them – provided they (and we) are still feeling we have not been compromised by having been exposed to COVID-19. They are very excited about the possibility of getting together to enjoy a common craft and each other after so many days of self-imposed isolation. We will be following very strict social distancing and wearing of face masks, etc. LOTS OF HAND WASHING. It will be a good trial run to see what else needs to be done to safely let a limited number of guests in the Lodge.
We would like to open officially as of June 1st, but will follow our state and county’s suggestions. As of now we are still to remain closed through May 7th. If we do not become a ‘hot spot’, we should be able to welcome travelers again very soon!
To help keep us entertained throughout the self-isolation period, we took on a new project. Last summer we adopted a couple chickens when one of our granddaughters joined the Army. We have had so much fun with them, Bill wanted to try his hand at raising a few, so we now have four pullets; two White Plymouth Rock, one Black Star, and one New Hampshire Red. All supposed to be good layers (brown eggs) and resistant to cold weather. They do bring lots of smiles when watching their antics!
