So after a couple of days of a May snow storm, we have more than three feet of new snow; about 18″ on the ground now because it is melting and going away almost as fast as it came down. The sun is sparkling and the sky BLUE! I went out to feed, calling to the grays who are sun-bathing in the middle of their corral. They come running up and then I get this:
I look and don’t see anything but falling snow from the trees, so I go get their hay – and they ignore me, so I stand and watch again. Soon I see a very young moose walk out of the trees below us, so I run after a camera (I had already been chastising myself for not having one with me). Fortunately, it is still there when Bill and I get back.
Isn’t it a cutey? What a great start to the day: sunshine, blue skies, snow on the ground and – MOOSE! Mountain living at its best.
